It is vital that we follow guidelines so that we can enjoys these opportunities safely. Please read our Guidelines and then proceed to book and enjoy your visits.

Our Guidelines

1. Introduction

The following notes explain the arrangements for opening our gardens to members. It is very important that we follow the current Government guidelines at all times.

The relevant permission for this activity is that we can now:-

  • spend time outdoors, including private gardens and other outdoor spaces, in groups of up to six people from different households, following social distancing guidelines.

Details of the gardens which are open to members of the Society are listed below. We hope to be adding more gardens to the list. These guidelines and the lists may be updated from time to time. Please check on updates of this page for the latest guidance and details for each garden.

2. Organisation

Gardens can be opened on fixed dates or on an "any day" basis during the period 15 June to 10 August. In both cases prior booking with the garden owner is essential to ensure compliance with the Guidelines. Please check the availability of visits to Lea Hurst on the sub tab of this DLH Open Garden page.

(The "any day" basis enables more flexibility to suit weather conditions etc. Please contact the owner to check if the garden is open for your planned visit. The owner does not guarantee availability on your selected day but alternative dates and times will be offered.)

No special measures to disinfect surfaces within the garden will be taken by the owners but you may wish to take your own hand sanitiser,  gloves etc as you think fit.

Donations and refreshments are at the discretion of the garden owners.

Toilets will not be available at most locations.
