The 2022 Mini Horticultural Show

The Dethick Lea & Holloway Horticultural Society’s Mini Horticultural Show was held in the Florence Nightingale Hall on 24th September 2022. 

 

“Back to Our Roots” - A celebration of the Joys of Gardening. 

30 people brought exhibits.

The flower classes(41 exhibits) were more popular than the vegetable classes (34 exhibits including wonderful onions, runner beans and carrots.+ other delights).

There were 13 fruit exhibits - a good year for apples!

The chidren entered 4 excellent miniature gardens.

Thank you for helping to make it a friendly and happy afternoon.

  1. Miniature Garden

We hope that the old favourite of creating a ‘Miniature Garden’ will appeal

to the young people and families and look forward to seeing your

creations. Please make a miniature garden in a dish or tray, any size or shape.

 

  1. Flower Section

    1. Dahlia, 3 blooms, any variety

    2. Rose, one stem, single bloom or spray

    3. Bunch of mixed herbs

    4. Hydrangea, single bloom

    5. Shrub material, berries and seed heads (no flowers) arranged in a vase

    6. Annuals, vase of 3 stems, single variety

    7. Perennials, vase of 3 stems, single variety

    8. Posy of mixed garden flowers

    9. Sunflower, single stem

    1. Potatoes, any variety, plate of 5

    2. Onions, plate of 3

    3. Parsnip, one
